Понятно, что пруссы наши родственники, да и весь этот Анклав: Пруссия, Польша, Белоруссия, Руссия.

East Germans in this sense means Germans from the area which formed its own nation under socialist rule from 1949 to 1990. 16 million people live there, which is only about one fifth of the total German population (less than the state of North Rhine-Westphalia). It is divided into the six states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Berlin, Thuringia and Saxony.

Modern East Germans are mainly descendants of West Germanic tribes (mainly Saxons, Thuringians and Franks), and West Slavic tribes (e.g. Pomeranians, Polabians and Sorbs). Please note that modern Saxons (Upper Saxons) are not the descendants of the old Germanic tribe, but mainly a mixture of Thuringians and Sorbs.
